Without you our young people across Beeston, Attenborough, Bramcote, Chillwell, Stapleford, and Toton are missing out.
Our volunteers are our everyday heroes!
At SW Notts, none of our roles are paid. We are a small group of volunteers that handle all of the administration and day to day running that both a youth group and charity needs to keep going. We need people like you to join our group of heroes and make a different in the local community.
Make a difference, volunteer today
We’ve all seen Bear Grylls on the telly and the good news is that you don’t need to be him to join us. Many of our adult volunteers have never done Scouts before. We don’t need a CV and covering letter to join us, we just need you and your enthusiasm! We’ve had volunteers who are parents, who are from the University of Nottingham, and also people who’ve just moved to the area and want to give some time to their new community.
Training
Oh no! That dreaded word! Please don’t get put off by training. There are a couple of short e-learning modules we need you to complete initially for safety and safeguarding reasons along with a DBS check.
Whilst we do have specialist training for more adventurous activities, most of us do not hold any other specific qualifications, it’s all learnt week on week. So don’t worry, you won’t be thrown in at the deep end, and you don’t need to know anything about Scouts, or badges, or neckerchiefs as you’ll pick it all up along the way!
You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life. Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is…
Volunteers’ checklist
If you are able to answer Yes to these statements, then we need you! ☑ Over 18 ☑ Have some spare time time (either weekly or otherwise) ☑ Are enthusiastic and want to have fun ☑ Able to clear a DBS check (Criminal Record check)
160,000 volunteers like you, helping more than 460,000 young people each year to build #SkillsForLife
What we’re currently looking for
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with young people, and also for those who don’t wish to be directly involved with young people wo have non-scouting roles too. Have a scroll through. If you don’t think you’re a fit with anything listed here, then you are wrong, anyone can help us, so get in touch and have a chat with us about how you can make a difference.
